I was asked to use an alternative medium as a means to visually express what lies at the heart of Ernest Hemmingway's 1927 short story "Hills Like White Elephants". This short film is an exploration of the distance and silence conveyed in Hemmingway's short story.

The yellow rope symbolises the unspoken issue that is both distancing them yet tying the pair together. The tether is a fitting device as the muted issue between the pair is the topic of an abortion.
